The Brand

Voodink is a new-wave pickleball brand built around bold design, performance and personality. The aim was to create something that felt different from traditional pickleball brands and appealed to a younger generation of players.

The Goal

Create a strong and recognisable identity that could grow with the brand and work across everything from the paddles themselves to packaging, apparel, web and social.

My Role

I joined VooDink as its Founding Designer, helping shape the brand from its early stages. My role has grown across creative direction, branding, product design, packaging, apparel, web and social, and I’ve since become a shareholder in the business.

Brand Identity

The identity was built to feel disruptive, energetic and instantly recognisable. At the centre is a bold, unique mark that brings together three elements — a pickleball paddle, a sense of movement through the swish, and a skull — all combined into one simple icon. It was designed to be strong enough to stand completely on its own, particularly on areas like paddle handles, apparel and smaller brand applications.

The outlined VooDink wordmark was designed to complement the icon while working particularly well across the length of the paddle face. Together with the neon colour palette and rough textures, the identity creates a distinctive visual style that can stay recognisable across both products and digital applications.

Paddle Design

Each paddle has its own personality, with the design influenced by its attributes, shape, weight, materials and intended playstyle. Power paddles like the HEX and VENOM use more aggressive, energetic graphics, while the control-focused HOODOO takes inspiration from a magician’s touch and precision. The MAYAN, designed as a strong all-rounder, uses an ancient, god-like personality to reflect its balanced performance.

While each paddle is different, they all needed to capture VooDink’s energetic, edgy and streetwear-inspired style, using bold graphics, expressive artwork and a slightly punk attitude to make the range feel connected and unmistakably VooDink.

Apparel

The identity was extended into an apparel and merchandise range, giving loyal followers another way to connect with and represent VooDink beyond the court. The aim was to create clothing people would genuinely want to wear and show off anywhere, rather than simply branded sportswear.

Bold designs like the snake and skull T-shirts and grungy hoodies carry VooDink’s edgy, streetwear-inspired personality into everyday clothing, while still being practical enough to wear and play in on court.

Social Media & Ads

I’ve managed the organisation and direction of VooDink’s social media, with Instagram as the brand’s primary platform. Since early 2025, the account has grown to over 1,400 followers, building a loyal, cult-like following ahead of the paddles’ official release.

I’ve designed static content, turned longer video footage into engaging short-form videos, and led campaigns covering everything from paddle breakdowns and product details to the founders’ backstory and their vision for VooDink. Alongside this, I regularly develop new content ideas and campaigns to keep people engaged, build anticipation and generate interest around the paddles, products and wider brand.

Kickstarter Campaign

I designed and built the full VooDink Kickstarter page, shaping the campaign from the brand story and founders’ vision through to detailed product breakdowns of the paddle range.

I created custom infographics, paddle specifications, product cards and supporting graphics to make the technical information easy to understand while keeping everything visually consistent with the VooDink brand.

I also incorporated video content, including a rotating showcase of three paddles, and helped shape the creative direction of the campaign’s main brand video, including making final edits before launch. The finished Kickstarter campaign successfully raised £10,840, helping take VooDink another step closer to bringing its paddles to market.

Performance Pickleball Paddle Design

These pickleball paddles were designed from the ground up, balancing performance requirements with strong visual identity.

From shape, surface materials, and specifications through to graphics, colour, and finish, each design considers how the paddle plays as much as how it looks.

Developed as part of the VooDink lineup, the work reflects a focus on real on-court testing, clear design intent, and building products that feel distinctive without compromising performance.
